North Central Iowa Bandmasters AssociationJuly 25, 2014
I hope you have had a great summer and are ready for the start of another school year! This is a letter to inform you of important
NCIBA information. Included in this mailing are the IBA and NCIBA Dues Information and the NCIBA Calendar of Events. All
other NCIBA information and forms are posted on our website – www.ncibandmasters.org.
NEW! We encourage you to take advantage of online registration for NCIBA this year. This will save a significant amount of work
for Jared Barnes as he updates our district directory. You can access online registration by visiting www.ncibandmasters.org and
clicking on “Membership Forms” in the left column of the homepage. If you would prefer, you may fill out and submit the paper
registration form included in this mailing. Regardless of how you register, payment (checks to “NCIBA,” $20 active, $10
retired/student) must be submitted to Jared Barnes at our Fall Cruise or at the mailing address above by Monday September
15. Directors must be paid members of both IBA and NCIBA in order for students to be eligible to participate in district
events. If paying by check, please make sure that both your name and school are written somewhere on the check.
If you are new to teaching or to NCIBA, we have a “mentorship” program in cooperation with IBA. This is a low-pressure way to
meet some helpful veteran band directors in your area as well as network with other new directors. If you are a new director, or if you
know of a new director, please contact Bruce Jolivette ASAP at 641-923-2831 or email@example.com.
Our traditional fall meeting and cruise on the “Lady of the Lake” will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Loading will
begin at 6:00 P.M. and we “sail” at 6:30 PM, with a catered meal being served shortly thereafter. “Jive for Five” will provide live
entertainment. The cost for the cruise and the meal combined is $20, and guests are welcome. We would love to have everyone
attend! Please go to the NCIBA website – www.ncibandmasters.org – and register by Friday, August 29 so we have an
accurate count for meals. Thanks again to Dan Djuren for making arrangements for this event.
Directors new to the district, the fall meeting is the one that you find out what’s going on during the year and meet the many
experienced veteran directors in our district. It’s a good time, and as new directors your meal and cruise are free! I look forward to
seeing all of you there!
