Welcome to NCIBA!

North Central Iowa Bandmasters Association

August 15, 2013

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you have had a great summer and are ready for the start of another school year! This is a letter to inform you of important NCIBA information.

As in the past, all dues information, forms and NCIBA event information are posted on our website (http://www.ncibandmasters.org). This information should soon be ready for you to access. If you need a hard copy of these forms, please contact me and I will get them out to you.

Please make sure that your NCIBA dues are paid to Jared Barnes, 2445 19th St SW, Mason City, Iowa 50401 prior to Friday, September 13 so your students can participate in all of our district activities. Directors must be paid members of both IBA and NCIBA to make students eligible to participate in district events. Active member dues are $20. Retired and student member dues are $10. (NCIBA Membership Forms)

If you are new to teaching or to NCIBA, we have a “mentorship” program in cooperation with IBA (Iowa Bandmasters Association). This is a low-pressure way to meet some helpful veteran band directors in your area as well as network with other new directors. If you are a new director, or if you know of a new director, please contact Brian Stevens ASAP! Bryan’s e-mail is stevensbr@q.com and his phone is 641- 456-5270.

Our traditional fall meeting and cruise on the “Lady of the Lake” will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Loading will begin at 6:00 P.M. and we “sail” at 6:30 P.M., with a catered meal being served shortly thereafter. “Jive for Five” will provide live entertainment. The cost for the cruise and the meal combined is $20, and guests are welcome. We would love to have everyone attend! Please go to the NCIBA website (Cruise Registration) and register by Friday, August 30 so we have an accurate count for meals. Thanks again to Dan Djuren for making arrangements for this event.

Directors new to the district, the fall meeting is the one that you find out what’s going on during the year and meet the many experienced veteran directors in our district. It’s a good time, and as new directors your meal and cruise are free! I look forward to seeing all of you there!

Sincerely,

Kurt Kissinger
